If you enjoy traveling, chances are Marriott is one of your favorite hotel brands. With over 7,000 properties in 131 countries and territories, Marriott offers a wide variety of options for places to stay no matter where your travels take you.

I like staying at Marriott because I know I can always count on comfortable accommodations and excellent service. But what I love about them even more is their Best Rate Guarantee. This policy has saved me a good amount of money! You’d be surprised at the number of third-party websites with rates better than Marriott’s website. That’s where the Marriott Best Rate Guarantee comes in.

With that said, if you’re interested in learning more, here is the Marriott Best Rate Guarantee!

Get More Bang For Your Buck

Going the extra mile and checking hotel rates is time-consuming, but it’s worth it. If you find a better rate for a Marriott hotel, don’t leave money on the table! I’ve submitted a Best Rate claim, and Marriott really does honor their commitment to giving you the lower rate. The process was easy, and I was happy to get a great deal.

What Is Marriott’s Best Rate Guarantee?

Regarding finding the best hotel rates, Marriott is confident its Best Rate Guarantee will give you the lowest price. And if you find a lower rate elsewhere, Marriott will match it and give you an additional 25% discount or 5,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.

How To Use Marriott’s Best Rate Guarantee

Marriott promises that customers will find better rates when they book directly with Marriott. If you find a lower rate for the same room type on another website within 24 hours of booking, Marriott will match the rate. After making your reservation directly with Marriott, you must submit a request for a lower rate by submitting a claim form.

When submitting your claim, it must include:

  • The room type
  • Reservation dates
  • The lower rate you found
  • The rate reserved

Once you’ve submitted your claim, and it’s approved, the 25% discount (20% for Design Hotels branded properties) is applied to your room rate for your current stay. However, if you choose the 5,000 points, they’ll hit your Marriott Bonvoy account within 7-10 business days after checkout.

Other Ways to Get Good Deals on Marriott Hotel Rooms

There are several other ways to get a good deal on Marriott stays, including:

I take full advantage of my Marriott Bonvoy account. I’ve used it to stay at some of Marriott’s most luxurious properties, like the Ritz-Carlton in Boston and St. Regis.

Use Marriott Rewards Points

Of course, the following way to get a good deal on Marriott stays is to use your Marriott Rewards points. Free nights start as low as 5,000 points per night, and you can often get a discount of up to 25% when using your points. To find out how many points you need for a free night, visit the Marriott website and click “Use Points.”

Ways to Earn Marriott Bonvoy Points

There are numerous ways to earn Marriott Bonvoy points, such as:

Staying at Marriott Hotels

Staying at Marriott Hotels

One of the easiest ways to earn Marriott Bonvoy points is by staying at Marriott hotels. You’ll earn 10 points for every dollar you spend on eligible room rates. I always take advantage of this by booking my stays direct with Marriott.

Eating At Participating Restaurants

Dinning

Another way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points is by eating at participating restaurants. You can earn up to five points for every dollar you spend. To find out if a restaurant is participating, visit the Marriott website and click on “Earn Points.”

Rental Cars

Rental Cars

Marriott is partnered with Hertz. You can earn 500 Marriott Bonvoy points by renting a car from Hertz for one day. However, you could earn up to 2,000 points when you book a car rental for two or more days. Plus, you’ll save on rental rates as a Bonvoy member.

Cruises

You can also earn Marriott Bonvoy points by booking a cruise with select cruise lines. If you book a cruise through Marriott, you’ll get 3X the points for $1 spent on the cruise.

Visit the Marriott website to find out if your favorite cruise line is participating.

Marriott Credit Cards

You can also earn Marriott Bonvoy points by using a Marriott credit card. There are several different Marriott credit cards, each with its own benefits. I personally use the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card from Chase, which offers six points for every dollar spent on Marriott purchases. Here’s a closer look at each option:

This card comes with two free nights and 15 Elite credits. Additionally, you’ll receive 100,000 points when you spend $4,000 within the first three months.

Purchasing Points

If you need more Marriott Bonvoy points, you have the option to purchase them. You can buy points in increments of 1,000, up to 100,000 per calendar year. The cost of purchasing Marriott Bonvoy points varies depending on how many points you buy.

I like buying points, especially when  Marriott offers a promotion where you can buy points at a discount. In most cases, buying points is less expensive than paying for a hotel room with cash.

Best Rate Guarantee Alternatives

While Marriott has a pretty good Best Rate Guarantee policy, some other hotels offer it as well. Here are a few of the alternatives:

Choice Hotels

Choise Hotels

With Choice hotels, if you find a less expensive, publicly available price for the same dates of your stay, they’ll match that rate. Plus, they’ll give USA and Canadian residents a $50 reward card. If you are an international guest, they offer the first night free. All you have to do is submit an online claim within 24 hours of booking.

Also, your booking must be a minimum of 48 hours before a 6 AM arrival on your first day of booking. Then, Choice hotels will reach out to you to confirm the price and ensure that your claim matches the Best Rate Guarantee terms and conditions. After everything is approved, you’ll get a lower rate for your current stay and a $50 reward card.

Hyatt

Hyatt

If you find a better rate for a Hyatt hotel anywhere other than a Hyatt website, they’ll match it and give you an additional 20% off your stay. You can also choose to get 5,000 World of Hyatt bonus points. To get your price match, you must complete a claim form within 24 hours of booking your room. For non-English speakers, Hyatt has a global contact center for non-speaking guests to call to submit their claim at 1-877-247-3909.

Hilton

Hilton Hotels

Hilton has a price match guarantee, and they’re always happy to give you the best rate. If you find a cheaper, qualified price on another site, they’ll match it and give you an extra 25% off your stay. To meet the qualifications, you must find a lower price for the same accommodation (before booking or within 24 hours of your reservation).

Next, you must submit a price match guarantee claim, and if it meets the criteria, Hilton will honor the price. You can submit your claim online using a form or by calling Hilton’s contact center (1-800-445- 8667) within 24 hours of booking.
