JetBlue has been catching my interest a lot lately, with it being known as one of the most comfortable airlines to fly within the U.S., and I am all about that comfort when I fly. Especially since I usually either sleep or watch movies while I’m flying.
They also always have excellent prices whenever I look up a flight with them. There is one thing that I have not looked into, though, that I have been wondering about lately. Where does JetBlue fly internationally?
I knew that they flew internationally because I’ve seen them listed on Google flights while looking up flights to the Caribbean. However, I always thought they were a small airline that didn’t have a large scale of destinations since they are fairly new in the airline world.
To my surprise, they have an impressive list of international destinations they fly to. Below I’ll go over precisely where JetBlue flies internationally and why you should choose Jet Blue for your international flight.
Where JetBlue Flies Internationally Up Front
The majority of JetBlue’s international flights are within the Caribbean, and most international flights depart from the New York area. If you are not flying out of New York, you will most likely have a layover there or through Fort Lauderdale to go international. They also have flights to Vancouver, Mexico, Central America, South America, and London.
Does Jet Blue Fly Internationally?
JetBlue does fly internationally, flying to 29 countries and servicing 41 destinations. This is quite a feat saying that JetBlue is a fairly new airline, with its first flight taking off from JFK in the year 2000. Most of its international flights are to countries in the Caribbean, but you will also find flights to places like Columbia, the United Kingdom, Peru, and Costa Rica.

The JetBlue website has a nifty map showing you all the locations they fly into and out of. However, unless you know exactly where you want to fly to, it’s kind of a pain scrolling all over the map to see precisely where JetBlue flies to. I made this list for you, so you don’t have to do that.

Why Choose Jet Blue for International Flights
Even though JetBlue doesn’t have a giant radius of destinations past Latin America, the Caribbean, and London, you can get to almost anywhere internationally from one of the locations they fly into. From London, you can go basically anywhere in Europe, Africa, and Asia through a different airline. There are a ton of reasons to book the first part of your flight with JetBlue, which I go over below:
Budget-Friendly
JetBlue offers some of the most budget-friendly international flights that I have seen. I made a quick search comparison with a hypothetical roundtrip flight to London from November 12th to the 16th.
JetBlue’s cheapest flight was non-stop at $653 for Blue Basic and $803 for Blue (includes a checked bag and general boarding). The cheapest flight I could find for the exact dates was $578 with Aer Lingus and a 14-hour layover. The cheapest non-stop was $1,065 with American Airlines.
JetBlue also guarantees that the prices on their website are the cheapest you will find on a JetBlue flight. If you find a JetBlue flight through another search engine that is cheaper than their website, they will match that price. So if you do a lot of digging, you may get lucky and get a cheaper flight, plus the points you would normally get if you have their loyalty program.
Has the Most Legroom of Any Airline
In my opinion, one of the most important things when it comes to flying international is comfort. JetBlue has the most leg room in economy seating out of any other U.S. airline, with a standard of 32-33 inches.
That’s a whole two to three inches more than the average, beating American, United, Delta, and many more airlines. You can also upgrade to “Even More Room” seats to get a whopping 37-38 inches of legroom, which I would definitely invest in for any flight over three hours.
Free In-Flight WiFi
The only U.S. airline to offer free in-flight WiFi is JetBlue. You can stream music, movies, send e-mails, and whatever else you usually use WiFi for, from take-off to landing.
This used to only be available for domestic flights, but they have expanded the coverage to include the majority of their international flights. The expanded coverage is only available on the Airbus A320, A321neo, and the A321 Long Range.
Some of the Best In-Flight Entertainment
Every single one of JetBlue’s aircraft comes equipped with seatback screens that provide some of the best in-flight entertainment I’ve seen. They offer live TV from DirectTV, music from SiriusXM, and content from services like Showtime and HBO.
You can even shop around on Amazon and its available streaming service through the seatback screens and earn three points with JetBlue for every purchase you make.
Things You Should Know about JetBlue
JetBlue flies to plenty of international destinations, but the international flights don’t always include everything that their domestic flights do. They also provide a couple of extra services for international flights. I will go over a few things that you should know about flying internationally with JetBlue here:
WiFi Is Not Included in All International Flights
The expanded free WiFi included in most international flights does not extend to every destination. The standard coverage that comes with every single flight only pertains to domestic flights and the flight to Vancouver.
Expanded coverage is provided on the Airbus A320, and A321neo aircraft to Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, and the A321 Long Range aircraft provides WiFi to London.
No WiFi is provided for flights to any of the destinations in South America. However, if you are in one of the aircraft that have expanded coverage, the WiFi will be available again once you are in the expanded coverage zone. The same goes for the standard coverage if you are in that zone. You can see a full map of the WiFi coverage zones HERE.
Hot Meals Are Only Included to and from London
International flights do not include a hot meal. The only flights that have a hot meal are the flights to and from London, which you can build in the seatback screen menu from grain to vegetable to meat. Flights that are two hours or longer offer a snack box with a variety of four snacks for $9. You can buy cheese plates, salads, or sandwiches for $13-$14 on flights longer than three and a half hours.
Not Every Seat Back TV Is Touchscreen
You wouldn’t think this is a huge deal because it’s still a seatback screen that offers entertainment, but the non-touchscreen screens don’t provide nearly as much as the touchscreen ones do. They only offer about a third of the number of featured movies as the touchscreen TVs.
They also only provide live TV shows instead of on-demand shows meaning there are commercials. The non-touchscreen TVs don’t have power ports either to charge your electronics.
Although, the only aircraft that don’t have touchscreen TVs are the E190 and A320 Classic, which you most likely won’t get on your international flight. They’ve also added many more touchscreen TVs to their aircraft in the past couple of years, so you’re less likely to get an aircraft without a touchscreen.
Alternatives for International Flights
The fact that I’m even saying the alternatives below compete with JetBlue sort of blows me away because I never thought of JetBlue as being on the same level as these other U.S. airlines. If anything, JetBlue is better than these alternatives that are a staple in the airline world, but I’ll go ahead and give you a few reasons why.
American Airlines
American Airlines has a total of 81 international destinations all over the world. If you can’t find your destination with JetBlue, you may be able to find it with American Airlines. They also include a carry-on bag in their basic economy, which JetBlue does not. They also provide one or two meals during your international flight, depending on how long the flight is.
Delta
Delta was my favorite airline to fly with internationally because they have excellent customer service, the seats are comfy, and I’ve overall never had any issues with delays or malfunctions in the plains. They also fly to 91 international destinations, so you will most likely find the international destination you’re looking for. The only thing with Delta is I do find that their prices are usually slightly higher than other airlines.
United Airlines
United will undoubtedly have your destination available if American, Delta, or JetBlue do not. They fly to the most amount of destinations out of any airline on Earth, with over 120 international destinations and 210 total destinations. You also get two free meals on international flights over 800 miles, but I don’t usually enjoy United’s included meals or their other services.
FAQ’s
Question: Does JetBlue fly within Europe?
Answer: The only place that JetBlue flies to within Europe is London. If you are flying from the U.S., you will most likely have a layover in London or Paris to get to your final Europe destination anyway. If you love JetBlue as much as I do, I recommend booking the first leg of your flight to Europe with Jetblue to London and then catching another flight from there to your final destination.
Question: Does JetBlue fly to Canada?
Answer: JetBlue only flies to one location in Canada, Vancouver. They do also fly into Buffalo, New York, which is only about a thirty-minute drive to Niagra Falls.
Question: Where is JetBlue expanding to?
Answer: JetBlue will soon have flights to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. They don’t say exactly when this new destination will be available, but the tickets should go on sale soon. They have also recently opened flights to London at the beginning of June with a slightly enhanced flight experience and the new A321 Long Range plane. They’ve also added a route to Vancouver at the beginning of June.
Question: What is the cheapest day to fly on JetBlue?
Answer: This highly depends on your destination and the time of year, but overall, Monday or Tuesday seems to be the cheapest days to fly with JetBlue. The nice thing about the JetBlue website is they have a fare calendar. So instead of choosing your dates like you usually would in a search engine, you scroll through their calendar with the fares listed on each date. This makes it much easier to find the cheapest day to fly.
Question: Do you get a free checked bag with JetBlue?
Answer: You do not get a free checked bag with JetBlue on any flights except for the flight to Gatwick London or Heathrow London. You must select Blue when purchasing your ticket instead of Blue Basic to get the free checked bag. You also only get a free carry-on bag with Blue, but not with Blue Basic.
Where Does JetBlue Fly Internationally: Bottom Line
If JetBlue does have my desired destination on its list of flights, I will definitely be choosing JetBlue over any other airline. The fact that they have free in-flight WiFi for most of their international flights, a ton of leg room to stretch out on that long flight, and their international flights are cheaper or at least equal to all other airlines is everything that I could ask for in an international flight.
I’m especially excited to try their London experience since it comes with so much more than any of their other flights, like a free checked bag and a farm-to-tray meal. I can’t believe I just learned about JetBlue and its international flight possibilities. But I sure am glad that I did.
